MAGA welcomes new Twitter CEO with classic smears
What better way to greet the new boss than with a personalized demonstration of how awful you can be?
Jack Dorsey announced earlier this week that he was stepping down as CEO of Twitter, the company he co-founded and led, on and off, for more than 15 years. Throughout that time, Dorsey was Twitter's most recognizable face, representing the company in venues as diverse as Joe Rogan’s podcast and the floor of the US Senate. In a statement Dorsey released Monday, he named Parag Agrawal, the company’s chief technology officer since 2017, his successor.
In wake of Dorsey’s resignation, many right-wing social media news performers worried that the leadership change at Twitter would result in more aggressive moderation of their content, which often skirt the platform’s community guidelines as closely as possible. Some on the culture-war Right expressed that they had viewed Dorsey as a libertarian-esque free speech idealist who had done what he could to fend off demands to crack down harder on far-right content and misinformation.
So, with a fresh anxiety trap laid, the outrage-mongers of right-wing Twitter did what they often do: scour the internet for any information about Agrawal that could explain the persecution they experience within the walls of their mind palaces. One problem for them is that Agrawal is, relatively, a private-ish person! There’s not a lot of material to work with, especially compared to past targets of the right-wing rage machine.
But nature finds a way.
