Hey gang! It’s been a while since I fired up the podcast. I am looking to produce a multi-part series about “Project 2025”: a plan cooked up by some of the most powerful conservative think tanks in DC to make a power grab from the executive branch should Trump return to office after the 2024 election. Much of this plan exists out in the open in the form of a 920-page policy mandate, and I think unpacking this plan is key to understanding the stakes of next year’s electoral cycle.
In such a series, what kind of questions would you like to see answered? Perspectives included? Rabbit holes explored?
I would love to learn more about who is behind this - not just the organizations showing up on the website, but also the funders, the authors, and where their ideas are coming from. Also, are these people/this project as influential as they seem to want to be?
The dangers of the current Christian Nationalists, The Health Care System that is criminal extortion,
Harm reduction by voting for the democrats even though they leave a lot to be desired.
Interviews with Sarah Posner, Kathleen Stewart, Ann Nelson, Bradley Oneshi of Straight White American Jesus,. Reproductive rights, LGBTQIA rights, The Supreme Court, the gals from the podcast Strict Scrutiny are fantastic. Thanks for asking and real great interview would be with Naomi Klein, her latest book is fantastic. How this gives you some food for thought. Of course their perspectives on Project 2025 would be something to unpack looking forward to that very much. Thank you for asking!
Personally, I think the question of "what are the stakes?" is a good throughline for the podcast series. It isn't clear to me whether the stakes are defined around his policies, personnel selections, or personality failings. His policy plans and personnel efforts historically have been part of his sales pitch to get people invested in his candidacy (many of us who supported him in 2016 were fooled by this)... which reflects a high level of sociopathy, disorganization, or both. My personal view is that he is a next-level Chaos Candidate and that the stakes of chaos are more serious in an intensified geopolitical environment.
Beyond Project 2025 what plans are being started and inserted at the state and local level even if we keep Trump out of the Oval Office. They have snuck up on us with a lot of scary crap. We need to know what organizations are behind this and what go watch for.
How far back have people been warning about a Republican takeover, not just P2025, and how those have gone. To me, there have been lobbying groups doing the same anyway so besides having a title, what’s the deal. I am very ignorant about this.
I think the idea of doing a long-form multi-part exploration of this issue is an excellent idea!
Maybe like one episode or a prequel mini-sode going over the background of how this sort of Conservative Authoritarianism has been brewing in the American Right, from Nixon, Reagan, Bush Sr, and their admins. Sort of how the excellent multi-part podcast Blowback goes over the background to conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan before America's full scale invasions. The background is not only fascinating, but it really enhances the understanding of the issue at hand. Depending of course on how many episodes you are looking at producing.
I still fail to understand Trump’s absolute dominance over the GOP, when no one likes him and he has so many obvious exposed points of failure. Is it just for lack of an alternative?
Also, I never get tired of spilled tea on Ben Carson.

The role of the education in their plan—especially as it relates to CRT and the “grooming” panic

You and Robert Evans making a dream team.

you gotta look into the role of Hillsdale College.
What it's implantation would look like to the average person in their day to day lives.
For those living in cities, suburbs, and rural locations.

Keep up the great work!
You could read the whole thing and do episodes breaking it down as you go, like chapter by chapter, or however it is organized.
